Educating Students with Special Learning Needs:
From Access to Statewide Assessment

Designing an educational plan for a student with special learning needs can be challenging. Are the typical curriculum content, materials and activities appropriate? If not, how shall they be best adapted to meet the student’s needs? The 2014 Combined Summer Institute will focus on concepts, methods, technology and other educational supports designed to enable our students to succeed within and beyond the classroom. Our students receiving special education services are basic education students first! For students with a disability, access to basic education and common core state standards is essential and required. This involves unique teaching strategies, curriculum adaptations, and accommodations.
