Communication and Language:
Bridge to Success
This conference focuses on families and professionals working with children who are autistic, blind/visually impaired, deaf/hard of hearing, deaf-blind and/or multiply disabled.
The 2008 Combined Summer Institute will focus on developing language and communication skills necessary for academic success in science, history and literature, etc., as outlined in the Communication Essential Academic Learning Requirements (EALRs) and Grade Level Expectations (GLEs) for students who are autistic, blind/visually impaired, deaf/hard-of-hearing, and /or multiply disabled.
We have confirmation for the following nationally-known speakers and programs:
- Dr. Jeanne Johnson, WSU, Foundations of Communication and Language;
- Dr. June Downing, Communication/Language Strategies for the Multiply Disabled
- Jay and Marilyn Gense, Autism Spectrum Disorders and the Blind/Visually Impaired
- Barbara Lynn Hardin, Communication Strategies Using Augmentative/Assistive Technology for Children with Autism and Multiple disabilities
- Dr. Susan Rose, University of Minnesota, How to do Progress Monitoring in literacy for students who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing
