Science In Our Valley: Innovation in Agriculture

November 13 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Join us every Wednesday for our seminar series featuring research happening right here in North Central Washington! Science In Our Valley began a few years ago to catalyze the development of an engaged regional scientific community.

On November 13, Dr. Emery will present her research “Innovation in Agriculture: Animal feed from Bugs, from Forklift to Farm. Beta Hatch is industrializing the production of insects for animal feed. We are harnessing the power of a new crop (bugs!) to meet the forecasted doubling of protein demanded by 2050. We use a combination of biotechnology, process innovation and mechanical engineering to grow the world’s most sustainable protein. This talk will cover the overall Beta Hatch business vision, to bring insects into their true potential in our food systems, and give some insight into the process of developing insects as a new tool for food security.

This is a free event, open to the community and great opportunity to learn about the incredible research in our own backyard.
