APPLE STEM NETWORK ANNOUNCES EVENT

The Apple STEM Network is co-hosting a regional Robotics Tournament on Saturday, December 9 at Clovis Point Intermediate School in partnership with the Wenatchee Valley Museum. The free event is open to the public.

FIRST Lego League teams from throughout North Central Washington will compete in the new FIRST Lego Regional Robotics event.

Student teams from throughout the region have been developing individual robots based on the Lego EV3 Mindstorms system. The robots are designed and programmed to address specific challenges issued by FIRST Lego League national contest organizers. Teams also are judged on a research project related to a themed challenge. The research project is always based on a current world issue, and this year’s theme is Hydrodynamics, the Human Water Cycle. Judges also observe how the team members adhere to FIRST Lego League’s core values related to professionalism.

The event is presented in partnership with the Apple STEM Network, the Wenatchee Valley Museum, FIRST Washington, GWATA, the Rutherford Family, and the Eastmont School District. Chelan-Douglas School Retirees Association and the Alcoa Corporation are tournament sponsors.

The Apple STEM Network is a three-dimensional alliance of K-12, Higher Ed and community partners seeded at the confluence of the Wenatchee and Columbia rivers, including the cities of Cashmere, Wenatchee and East Wenatchee in Chelan and Douglas counties.
