Superintendent Larry Keller from Mansfield School District has been asked to do a presentation training at the National Governors Association’s Honor States Grant Program Learning AP Learning Lab on December 15, 2005 in Vienna, VA..

The National Governors Association (NGA) is awarding grants to 6 states for the purpose of building AP programs in urban and rural school districts. The six states to receive these grants will be announced on November 15 th. NGA has asked the College Board for Larry to present a session on Model District Initiatives: Miami-Dade, Chicago, and Iowa Rural Districts in conjunction with David Gupta (Miami-Dade), Scott Van Beck (Houston ISD), and Cynthia Barron (Chicago Public Schools).

The purpose of this session is to share the strategies and best practices of districts that have successfully extended their AP course offerings, teacher training, and student participation. The goal of this is to train the grantees on how to develop a plan for implementing AP in urban and/or rural school districts, with the intention of developing a statewide AP improvement plan.
