NCESD's Henry Hettick teaches children electrical safety

What started twenty years ago as just an idea has evolved into a strong partnership between the North Central ESD and four Public Utility Districts. We congratulate everyone involved in the formation and implementation. The NCESD takes an explicit message of Electrical Safety and Electrical Energy Conservation to the youth of the four counties; Chelan, Douglas, Grant and Okanogan, through several education programs administered in the local schools. Every child in the school system can relate to being in the electrical safety class; many stories come back to us regarding how a child remembered lessons from the class and took himself out of harms way around electricity. In one case four boys would have surely been electrocuted had it not been for the lesson learned by one of the boys; he took them out of danger. Over the years the programs have been very successful and exciting. We continue to work with the PUDs to help move children to informed consumers of electrical energy.
