September 17, 2009 SAC Meeting
The September 17 SAC meeting was well attended, with 20 out of 29 districts represented. The SAC meetings continue to evolve and change to meet superintendents' needs. In keeping with this, the day began with a book study for new superintendents led by NCESD Board/ Superintendent Liaison Steve McKenna. The book of study is School Board Field Book: Leading with Vision.
The regular meeting began earlier, at 9:30 a.m. and adjourned at 12 noon. Presentations included: "Beyond the WASL" by Joe Willhoft from OSPI. SAC Vice Chair Sandra Sheldon then facilitated a process for gathering group feedback on the Teaching and Learning focus for the year. Mack Armstrong, WASA, brought an update, followed by a report on State Board accountability from Sandy Sheldon and an AASA Governing Board update from Garn Christensen.
