Rob and Mark The Compelling Why ~A Facilitated Session/Discussion:
What worked really well last year?
What takeaway activities for Focus on Education Week are you considering for your district (1-2 )?

Dr. Alan Burke from OSPI presented information on state assessments and school improvement.
Key elements:

Learning Targets for 2012-13: TPEP/Frameworks, Common Core, Advocacy
Our Problem of Practice:  What leadership practices will accelerate the success of students in NCW as we enhance our skills as Leader of Learners and a Leader of Leaders?

John and Garn Success Criteria: the SAC agenda will reflect our Problem of Practice:
Collaboration and Sharing are part of our regular agendas

We will share professional development and other resources across the region

We will "leverage" our SAC learning with sub-regional meetings

We provide mutual support for topics as they become a priority

Our SAC Theory of Action:
IF we provide district leaders with key information on TPEP, CCSS and Advocacy, strategies for implementation, and practical methods to collaborate and assess progress, THEN our district leaders will greatly enhance their districts' success.

Learning targets for the meeting were:
Develop a deeper understanding of the Common Core Implementation and develop a clear action plan for implementation and/or messaging in my district
Be able to describe the current status of the TPEP/RIG work underway in our region and how it will impact the work of my district for 2012-13

Cathi-Si Greta Bornemann, Director of Teaching & Learning Mathematics at OSPI, was the featured speaker and brought an update on Common Core Standards, presenting information on "As a Superintendent, what do I need to know to lead this initiative?"

Shanna Brooks, Andrew Hickman and Machelle LaLanne from the ESD shared information about alignment of MLA Trainings/Activities with CCSS, and Superintendent Rich McBride and Assistant Superintendent Cindy Duncan reported on TPEP/RIG I & II/Instructional Frameworks.
