Prevention/Intervention Specialists
 

- Implementation of proven prevention curriculums, such as Life Skills Training and Second Steps to prevent substance abuse and violence.
- Coordination of prevention oriented student groups, such as Students Against Destructive Decision Making, peer mediation, and natural helpers groups.
- Individual intervention for students with alcohol, tobacco, other drug, or violence issues. This includes intervention with voluntary students and with those caught violating school district policies.
- Student support groups of various kinds for students coping with their own or others substance abuse, anger, and violence issues.

 

Costs:

Free to Safe & Drug Free Schools Co-op members. Additional staffing beyond allocation at $33/hour

School Districts (Services currently provided in all high schools, middle/junior high schools, and some elementary schools in Chelan, Douglas, Grant and Okanogan counties)

Provide staff who facilitate:
- Needs assessments and data analyses to determine what the needs are in a given school.
- Coordination with a variety of agencies and individuals addressing youth alcohol, tobacco, and other drug issues in our schools and communities.
- Development of funding and other resources to address these problems.

 

Costs:

Funded by grant. Free to grant participants. $35/hour for other districts.
