STEM Summit dates and location announced

The North Central Educational Service District (NCESD) will host the third-annual STEM Summit August 13-15 at Wenatchee High School. The event will highlight multiple professional learning opportunities for teachers and educational staff members in the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics taught by experts and specialists in their fields.

Each day will begin with a keynote speaker and will feature over 50 breakout sessions over the course of the three days. Clock hours are available.

Sessions have been carefully selected based on attendee feedback gained after the 2017 and 2018 events, current areas of focus in STEM education, and curriculum updates. Workshops under consideration include:

  • Vocabulary in a Science Classroom
  • TEALS Computer Science overview
  • Developing Assessment Capable Learners
  • Mathematical Modeling
  • Kids in the Creek- connecting students with their natural environment
  • Authentic Professional Learning- starting learning labs in your building
  • Weather and Sky
  • Number Talks
  • Using Tech for Classroom Management and Engagement
  • Using Google Tools
  • Standards-based Grading in Skyward
  • Tying Elementary Makerspaces to Literacy
  • Using Computation Strategies Based on Reasoning
  • Using Neuroscience in the Art of Teaching
  • How To Use Robots in Every Classroom

“This event is offered to provide teachers and educational staff members from throughout North Central Washington with innovative STEM educational tools and resources, curriculum updates, and information on a variety of STEM-related topics. The NCESD works hard to remain on the cutting edge of education and we’re proud to offer this popular event to our region’s educators,” explained Pete Phillips, Executive Director of Technology Services at the NCESD.
