Developing BIPS/Behavior Escalation Cycle

In this presentation, participants will understand why challenging behaviors may happen in their classrooms and how to support behaviors through prevention, teaching, and reinforcement strategies. We will work collaboratively through case studies to practice writing behavior intervention plans based on evidence-based strategies.

FCS08 Child and Adolescent Development

This two-hour professional learning opportunity is for instructional paraeducators, K-12. Participants will deepen their knowledge of how developmental stages impact students physically, emotionally, academically and socially.

FCS01 Introduction to Identity and Cultural Diversity

This four-hour professional learning opportunity is for instructional paraeducators, K-12. Participants will deepen their understanding of the Fundamental Course of Study (FCS) requirements, specifically Cultural Identity and Diversity.

504 Training

This course answers questions all educators have about the requirements of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 as it applies to the public school’s duty to provide a free and appropriate public education (FAPE) to students with disabilities. The key elements of Section 504 are explored, including its definition, what this federal law requires in terms of FAPE, and how it should be implemented.

FCS07 Behavior Management

This two-hour professional learning opportunity is for instructional paraeducators, K-12. Participants will deepen their understanding of proactive approaches to student behavior management and de-escalation strategies.

FCS06 Equity

This three-hour professional learning opportunity is for instructional paraeducators, K-12. Participants will deepen their understanding of ways to respond to racism, discrimination, and stereotypes. Participants will gain awareness of the need for creating equitable and inclusive learning environments.

FCS11 Communication Basics and FCS12 Communication Challenges

This three-hour professional learning opportunity is for instructional paraeducators, K-12. Participants will identify the communication skills required for working with team members. Identify strategies used to initiate and receive feedback regarding student learning and/or personal performance and describe ways to apply conflict resolution strategies.

Threat Assessment Training, Level 1

Training includes a brief review of supportive research and the best practice prescriptive recommendations for assessment and management, the application of threat assessment concepts and research in a site-based protocol called a Level 1, and more.

Level 1 Student Threat Assessment – Learning Lab/Refresher

Includes brief review of Level 1 Student Threat Assessment and how it has evolved in the past year, and direct instruction on conducting and setting up a Level 1 Student Threat Assessment Team at a school/building level.

Safety Care Specialist Certification, Complete

This 2-hour Student Threat Assessment (STA) ZOOMtraining will cover the essential concepts of the Salem-Keizer Threat Assessment System, and will clarify the roles of local experts who are eager to support the safety and well-being of our schools and community.
