Welcome to the NCESD ELA – Literacy Content pages. The three goals for the 2016-17 school year are:

  • Increase educators use of effective literacy practices and implementation of the WA state ELA Standards as measured by
    • services provided
    • participation numbers
    • increase in participant’s knowledge and skills to deliver writing instruction and scoring
    • increase student’s ability to successfully meet the criteria established for a writing prompt
  • Increase district and building administrator awareness and knowledge of tools and resources for Strengthening Students Educational Outcomes ELA Menu of Best Practices (SSEO ESSB 5946) as measured by
    • services provided
    • participation numbers
    • Administrator Survey
  • Increase the capacity of instructional leaders (Fellows, Administrators, TOSAs, etc) to support district/school staff in the implementation of WSLS/CCSS for ELA as measured by
    • services provided
    • participation numbers
    • regional leadership events
    • Pre/Post Leadership Framework self-assessment

Literacy Leadership Network:

The LLN is a group of literacy leaders representing the districts of NCESD. The purpose of the network is to meet regularly to discuss current initiatives in English Language Arts, connect with regional, state and national opportunities, and share research and best practices for instruction and assessment in literacy.
