About June’s Event – Mitigate Compromised Accounts

Presentation by: April Mardock, CISO, WSIPC

April Mardock is a veteran k12 cybersecurity leader and the current CISO for WSIPC, where she manages the security posture for 750,000 users. With two decades of experience in diverse IT environments, April excels at reducing “techno-babble” to practical, high-impact security tasks.

Session description: When a K-12 account gets compromised, a password reset is just the beginning. In this hands-on session, we’ll walk step-by-step through the K12 SIX Compromised Account Response Checklist — covering all five phases: Isolate, Investigate, Remediate, Communicate, and Reevaluate. You’ll learn exactly what to click, where to look, and what to do in both Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 environments. We’ll also cover the DFIR essentials your team needs before the incident happens — documentation, evidence preservation, and knowing when to call in the pros.
