EPA Awards NCESD for Careers in Green Chemistry Video Series
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced North Central ESD (NCESD) was one of 43 Safer Choice Partner of the Year award winners from across 20 states and the District of Columbia. Recognized as an outstanding Safer Choice Supporter, NCESD provides educational resources to school districts and educational staff.
In 2023, NCESD, in partnership with the Washington State Department of Ecology, created a series of videos for students that highlight careers in green chemistry and sustainable design. Each video includes a free activity guide to assist teachers in using the videos in their classroom with students.
One video features Taylor Nations, the Regulatory Compliance Director at ECOS, sharing how students can identify cleaning products with safer ingredients – one identifier is the Safer Choice label. The Safer Choice program and label help consumers and purchasers at facilities find cleaning and other products with chemical ingredients that are safer for human health and the environment.
Other jobs highlighted in the series include Education and Outreach Manager, QA/QC Upscaling Technician, Associate Professor, Analytical Chemist, Global Lead of Sustainable Materials Innovation, and Chemist. All videos and content are available in both English and Spanish.
“Safer Choice applauds NCESD’s efforts to raise awareness of green chemistry careers and the Safer Choice program,” the EPA stated in the press release announcing the award.
