North Central Educational Service District team member receives certification

North Central Educational Service District (NCESD) team member Paul Harrison has received certification as a Safety Management Specialist.

Harrison completed all requirements from the  Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) to earn his Safety Management Specialist (SMS) designation.

The certification is awarded to individuals who meet eligibility and experience criteria in the safety, health, and environmental disciplines and have passed a rigorous examination. Those receiving certification must retest every five years to ensure knowledge and expertise.

BCSP credential holders are among the most highly trained, educated, and experienced individuals in the safety field. Having achieves a BCSP certification demonstrates Harrison’s mastery of the core competency required for professional safety practice.

“It is critical to maintain competent individuals within the industry because of the impact they have on the safety of workers and the public,” explained Dr. Treasa Tumbeaugh, Chief Executive Officer of the BCSP.

 

The Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP), headquartered  in Indianapolis, Indiana, is a not-for-profit corporation recognized as a leader in high-quality, accredited credentialing for safety, health, and environmental (SH&E) practitioners. BCSP establishes standards and certifies competency criteria in professional safety practice. Since 1969, over 74,000 of BCSP’s CSP, SMS, ASP, OHST, CHST, STS, STSC, or CET certifications have been achieved.
