2026 Keynote Presentations
Mike Hanson is a senior fellow at the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching and founding partner of The JMH Team, where he supports education systems and state agencies through executive coaching and strategic advising. A former superintendent of California’s third-largest urban school district and co-founder of CORE, his work has centered on improving student achievement through strong systems, collaboration, and leadership development. Mike has led continuous improvement efforts focused on equity, organizational transformation, governance, and systems alignment to strengthen teaching, learning, and district effectiveness. Across his career as a superintendent, principal, teacher, and coach, he has emphasized building capacity in others to create sustainable school and district improvement.
Jorge A. Aguilar previously served as the superintendent of the Sacramento City Unified School District, leading a district serving more than 40,000 students.He is the son of farm workers in the central valley of California and a product of the Migrant Education Program. Throughout his career, he has focused on systems improvement efforts that increase graduation rates, reduce dropout rates, strengthen student achievement, and improve postsecondary access and success. Aguilar is recognized for advancing equity-centered transformation, including the development of an award-winning Facilities Master Plan designed to prioritize historically underserved schools. His leadership emphasizes continuous improvement, collaboration across educational systems, and expanding opportunities for all students.
