The NCESD STEM Team launched a six-week educational initiative titled "Signs of Spring," throughout April and May, designed to engage students in hands-on learning experiences that explore the natural world's seasonal changes.

Led by the North Central Educational Service District, with funding from ClimeTime Proviso, students from Endeavor (Moses Lake), Warden, Waterville, Bridgeport, Brewster, Tonasket and Oroville schools engaged in hands-on environmental science and conservation efforts on Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) lands. The outdoor field events, STEAM in the Field, occurred over three weeks in April and May.

North Central Educational Service District (NCESD) will be recognizing regional school nurses on Wednesday, May 10 in celebration of National School Nurse Day. NCESD encourages others to take a few minutes on May 10 to say thank you to a school nurse for their dedication to student health and safety.

North Central ESD was selected as a first-year partner and has already delivered bikes to four schools in North Central Washington: Manson School District, Orondo Elementary School, Mansfield School District, and East Omak Elementary.

School districts in Washington State are constantly reviewing and adjusting their systems to ensure they are providing the best education for all students. OSPI’s Office of Systems and School Improvement (OSSI) works with schools, districts, educational service districts, and Continuous Improvement partners to change school systems, not just practices in schools for long-term, sustained success.

NCESD has launched a cybersecurity initiative for school districts, emphasizing a shared responsibility beyond IT departments. They introduced a "Top 10" best practices list, aimed at fostering a security-aware culture and enhancing defenses against digital threats through foundational security measures and collective action within the educational community.

It’s that time of year to nominate a local educator or school employee for an OSPI Educator of the Year award! Nominations are due March 1, 2024 and anyone can nominate an outstanding individual.
