iChill – A FREE App from the Trauma Resource Institute

Imagine having – right at your fingertips – a list of small actions you could take to calm yourself, or to energize yourself, as needed!

With iChill, a FREE app from the Trauma Resource Institute, you, or anyone with internet access, can have exactly that! Each action, or set of actions, explained in iChill is a way of regulating oneself or helping someone else to regulate. Anyone can help anyone with these skills! No special training, licensure or certification is required.

iChill was developed by the Trauma Resource Institute (TRI), a non-profit organization that lists its core values as:

  • Service
  • Social justice
  • Dignity
  • Respect
  • Acknowledgement of every person’s, family’s and community’s worth

iChill combines wellness skills used in TRI’s:

  • Community Resiliency Model
  • Trauma Resiliency Model

iChill can be accessed:

iChill is available in:

  • English
  • Spanish
  • Ukrainian

iChill’s pages are both:

  • Written for the user to read
  • Recorded so that the user can listen

The “Resilient Zone” is depicted in the app as a band of normal highs and lows experienced by the nervous system without the person becoming distressed.

Users are invited to assess for themselves the degree to which they are in their Resilient Zones, rather than too high (anxious, irritable) or too low (depressed, sad) both before and after using the skills described in the app.

In addition to 10 HELP NOW! suggestions, iChill explains these skills:

  • Tracking
  • Resourcing
  • Grounding
  • Gesturing
  • Shift & Stay
